Chancellor Green statement on DACA announcement
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green issued the following statement following the federal government’s announcement that it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.
“Today’s news about reversing DACA brings palpable uncertainty to a few of our students and raises questions from our university community at large in regard to our promise to welcome all to learn, to grow and to contribute to society. As a public land-grant university, we have held true to that promise since our founding almost 150 years ago because that is a cornerstone of our commitment to our state, nation and world. We encourage our federal elected officials to enable us to continue to provide a proven path for all to pursue their dreams.”
