Meteor shower to dazzle during observatory open house

Behlen Observatory, which is near Mead, will host an open house on Nov. 17.

A public open house at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Behlen Observatory begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 17.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature the start of the Leonid meteor shower as well as other celestial objects, including the Ring Nebula, Blue Snowball Nebula and Andromeda Galaxy.

Nebraska faculty and members of the Society of Physics Students will be available to answer questions and lead science demonstrations and talks.

Behlen Observatory is located near Mead, Nebraska. Directions to the observatory are available online.
