Yeutter Institute lecture is Sept. 29

College of Law

A financial and securities regulation scholar will deliver a Clayton K. Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance lecture at noon Sept. 29 at the College of Law.

The talk, “The Common Agency Problem in Bank Regulations,” will be led by Yesha Yadav, a professor of law at Vanderbilt University.

The talk will describe the ownership of the 25 largest United States banks, to show that post-crisis United States big bank ownership has come to be characterized by an increasing number of blockholders.

The aim of this talk lies in addressing the political economy of financial failure to determine whether those shareholders who contract to bear the default risk of financial firms, in fact, possess the institutional capacity to do so.

The Clayton K. Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance was launched in 2015 to prepare students to work at a time when national economies are increasingly connected.

The institute builds on the strengths of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and College of Business Administration and the University of Nebraska College of Law to offer undergraduate and graduate education, facilitate faculty research and conduct outreach efforts, all related to international trade and finance. The goal is for students to be prepared for work in the ever-growing global trade environment.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Space for this event is limited and reservations are available online.
