The University of Nebraska Department of Gerontology is a three-campus program, involving the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and online, that uses a a multidisciplinary approach to shine a light on the final phases of life. Maintaining independence, coping with health changes and planning for the end of life are among the opportunities and challenges studied.

Masters is chair of the Department of Gerontology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She offers caregiving advice for family members, pastors and church members, friends and neighbors as well as professional caregivers.
