Penner retirement reception is Aug. 1

After 30 years of service, the College of Architecture's Jay Penner is retiring from the university. A retirement reception is Aug. 1.

A retirement reception for Jay Penner is 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Van Brunt Visitors Center.

Penner has worked for 30 years as an accounting clerk in the College of Architecture. During his tenure, Penner’s ledger workflow has transitioned from pencil, paper and adding machines to desktop computers. He has also served under three deans, three interim deans and five associate deans.

Penner said he has thoroughly enjoyed working with all campus administrators as well as staff colleagues. However, students have always carried a special place for Penner.

“Students are the reason we are here,” Penner said. “I am awestruck at their creativity and enthusiasm for design and planning. Our students always amaze me.”

The reception is free and open to the public. For more information on Penner, click here.
