Helping UNL pre-tenure faculty prepare competitive proposals for the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program is the focus of an April 7 workshop. Registration closes March 31.

“Secrets to Winning NSF CAREER Awards” is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ken Morrison Life Sciences Research Center, 4240 Fair St., Room 169. The workshop is free and open to UNL faculty, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Office of Research and Economic Development annually sponsors an early career award workshop to provide prospective applicants with proposal writing advice and information about resources available at UNL to support the development of early career project proposals.

Marshall Kaplan, founder and principal of Kaplan Sponsored Research Strategies, will present information on complying with NSF CAREER program guidelines, creating a balanced and well-integrated research and education plan, surviving the elimination process, understanding the review and selection process, and avoiding common proposal development mistakes.

The workshop concludes with a complimentary lunch during which attendees will learn about relevant UNL’s proposal development resources.
