‘The Salvation’ opens at the Ross March 20

Opening at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center March 20 is “The Salvation,” a Danish twist on the most American of genres. The film recycles stock elements from old Westerns and features two exceptionally strong performances by Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green.

“The Salvation” is showing March 20-26. Show times are available at www.TheRoss.org or by calling 402-472-5353. The Motion Picture Association of America has rated the film “R” for violence.

This program will be presented with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.

The mighty Mikkelsen unleashes a maelstrom of bloodshed in the “Wild West” in this white-knuckle tale of revenge. When he lays waste to the scoundrels who killed his wife and son, a Danish ex-soldier incurs the wrath of a sadistic gang leader hell-bent on hunting him down. Exploding with eye-popping action, dazzlingly dramatic frontier landscapes and a smoldering performance by Eva Green, “The Salvation” is a rip-roaring, blood-spattered saga of sin and redemption.
