Applications sought for faculty development position
Faculty Affairs in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor seeks applications and nominations of highly-qualified faculty leaders for the position of director of faculty development.
This position will report to and work closely with the associate vice chancellor for faculty and academic affairs to develop a strategic vision for faculty development that strengthens the quality of the university's faculty and supports the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty that advances N2025 goals.
The position will be responsible for providing leadership for various faculty development activities offered through Faculty Affairs including Faculty Development Workshops, the Faculty Affairs Fellows Program, Faculty TipSheets, New Faculty Orientation, the New Faculty Development Program, and the university's National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity membership. The position will also provide support to deans and department chairs and assist with academic program reviews.
Successful candidates will have excellent analytic, communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated commitment to supporting faculty excellence across campus, and a track record of building and maintaining cooperative partnerships.
The position is open to faculty who have a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. A tenured appointment at the rank of full professor and prior academic administrative or leadership experience is preferred. The director of faculty development will have an academic administrative appointment at between 0.50 FTE and 0.75 FTE (negotiable), plus a $10,000 administrative stipend and one month of summer salary (if on an academic-year contract). The remaining FTE will remain in the individual’s home unit.
