When drones are in the news, Matt Waite’s phone rings. He’s the go-to expert for reporters, lawmakers and audiences around the world.
For taking beyond the classroom his expertise in the legal and ethical complexities of using pilotless aircraft for journalism purposes, Waite received the University of Nebraska’s Innovation, Development and Engagement Award on May 24. The award is reserved for NU faculty who have used their knowledge to enrich the broader Nebraska community.
Waite is a professor of practice in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. He is also founder of UNL’s Drone Journalism Lab. Learn more about his research into drone journalism by clicking the video above.
