UNL wind ensemble opens season Oct. 8

UNL Wind Ensemble

UNL’s Glenn Korff School of Music Wind Ensemble will begin its season with a study of contrasts, juxtaposing the expected and the unexpected at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Kimball Recital Hall. The performance will also be webcast live.

The concert will have a distinctly American flavor with the works of Ives, Copland, Newman, Forte and Bernstein seasoned with a dash of international flair from Stravinsky and Schmidt. The wide-ranging performance will include a gentle ballad inspired by the poetry of Leah Goldberg, a polka composed to accompany the dancing of elephants in the Barnum and Bailey Circus, an old-fashioned march and a sonic homage to a French Impressionist painting.

Admission is $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.

The webcast will be available the night of the event at http://arts.unl.edu/music.
