UNL hosts fourth annual Chinese Culture Festival

The Shanghai String Quartet will perform at the Lied Center on Sept. 27. The event is part of UNL's 2015 Chinese Culture Festival.

UNL and the Confucius Institute are offering a Chinese Culture Festival through Oct. 7. This is UNL’s fourth festival celebrating Chinese culture.

The event, in partnership with XI’an Jiaotong University in China, is sponsored by Hanban with the Office of Chinese Language Council International, the UNL Chinese Students and Scholars Association, the Lincoln Chinese Cultural Association and the Omaha Chinese Culture Association.

Campus events that are part of the Chinese Culture Festival include:

  • Sept. 21 through Oct. 2, Confucius Institute Exhibition at the Caffina Café Wall in the Nebraska Union.

  • Sept. 26, 5 p.m., LCCA Chinese Food Festival and Cooking Contest will take place in the Nebraska Union.

  • Sept. 27, 2 p.m., Shanghai Quartet performance will take place in the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

  • Sept. 28, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Chinese cooking class open to all UNL students, faculty and staff on East Campus, Leverton Hall, Room 206.

  • Oct. 1, 5:30 to 8 p.m., invitation only chancellor’s reception to celebrate the national day of the People’s Republic of China and the eighth anniversary of UNL Confucius Institute at the Van Brunt Center.

  • Oct. 1-7, Chinese movie festival at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. For more information, go to http://www.theross.org.
