Students can compete for cash prizes at Quick Pitch on Nov. 19

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Entrepreneurship will host the seventh annual 3-2-1 Quick Pitch Competition from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Memorial Stadium west skyboxes.

Student competitors are given three minutes to pitch a new business venture proposal to a panel of entrepreneurial experts. The competitors are judged on their creativity, communication and presentation skills.

Students from Nebraska high schools, two-year colleges and four-year colleges compete to win cash prizes in seven categories. Quick Pitch also provides networking opportunities with professional business leaders who have started their own businesses.

Students should submit a description of their business proposal in 150 words or less at http://cba.unl.edu/quickpitch. Business partners can also register to serve as judges for the competition at the same site.

The deadline for students and judges is Nov. 6. Early registration is encouraged; the event is limited to 70 competitors and 30 judges. More than 200 student applications were received last year and more than 50 business partners registered.

The event is sponsored by Nelnet, Resort Lifestyle Communities, Cameron General Contractors, Hastings HVAC and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Other businesses wishing to sponsor Quick Pitch should contact Rose Graves at rgraves1@unl.edu.
