Opening at The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center on Dec. 11 are “Queen of Earth” and “Theeb.” Both films show through Dec. 17.
“Queen of Earth”, directed by Alex Ross Perry, follows Catherine, a woman headed toward emotional collapse after the hit of heartbreaking events. Seeking peace and solitude, she heads to the secluded lake house of her friend, Virginia. Their time together becomes problematic as past and present collide.
“Theeb” is the debut film from director/co-writer Naji Abu Nowar. The film tells the story of two brothers during a war in the Ottoman Empire. The brothers guide a British officer through their land but encounter obstacles along the way.
Both films are not rated.
