Registration open for Genealogy and Family History Day

UNL's Center for Digital Research in the Humanities, located in Love Library (pictured), has awarded three fellowships through the Digital Scholarship Incubator. The awards support and develop student-led digital humanities research that extends beyond the classroom.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Love Library will host its second annual Genealogy and Family History Day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 18 with the theme “Diverse Cultures, Diverse Resources.”

Participants will learn about some of the resources and processes to start the journey to find their ancestors. Cultures featured include Native, African-American, German and colonial American. Presenters will highlight a diverse range of resources available in the UNL Libraries and elsewhere. Genealogist Gail Blankenau will cover the steps to discover the village of people’s German ancestors. The presentations are free and participants can attend the entire day or specific sessions. This year’s event will include afternoon breakout sessions with experts in the new Adele Hall Learning Commons.

Participants can bring a lunch. Attendees are encouraged to use the for-pay parking at the Larson Building at 13th and Q streets. Love Library is at 13th and R streets.
