Dave Hadenfeldt

David Myron Hadenfeldt, 57, of Denton, Nebraska, died Aug. 11. He served as director of print, copy, mail and distribution services at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln since 2006.

Hadenfeldt was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on Feb. 6, 1958. He graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1976 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business from UNL in 1980. Hadenfeldt married Heidi Struss on Aug. 18, 1979.

As a director at UNL, Hadenfeldt was hardworking and considered his co-workers to be extended family. His leadership allowed UNL’s Print and Copy Center to extend its outreach and to implement many new services, including 3-D printing.

“For the past decade, Dave has been a respected, hardworking and well-liked leader of the university’s office of print, copy, mail and distribution services,” said Steve Smith, director of news for UNL. “He will be deeply missed as a friend and as a colleague, and our hearts go out to his family for their sudden and tragic loss.”

Hadenfeldt was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years and reading books. He also loved being with his family and taking walks together. He was also quick with a smile and offered a unique sense of humor showcased through his many stories and jokes.

He is survived by his wife; three children Lucas, Jennica, and Amber Hadenfeldt; parents, Myron and Ruth Hadenfeldt; siblings Debbie (Steven) Startzer, Kevin (Teresa) Hadenfeldt, and Kent (Lisa) Hadenfeldt; mother-in-law Geraldine Struss; siblings-in-law Judy Hohlen, Dennis (Susan) Struss, Rebecca Struss, Mike (Karen) Struss, Rick (Vicki) Struss; and many nieces and nephews.

Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 O St., will hold visitation with the Hadenfeldt family, 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 14. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 724 South 12th St.

Donations are requested to the family and will be used to establish a David Hadenfeldt memorial.
