A free talk about runner training tips and final race preparations is 5 to 6 p.m. April 14 at the Campus Rec Center on City Campus. The presentation will be led by Christopher Dulak, a senior assistant director for marketing and communications with Campus Recreation.
The presentation is designed for anyone who plans to run a first marathon or half marathon — including the Lincoln races on May 4. Dulak will cover tips about tapering, injuries, stretching, nutrition, clothing and final details on preparing for race weekend.
Dulak is a former cigarette smoker who began running competitively in his mid-20s in 5k, 10k and half marathon races. He trained for his first marathon at age 33 and completed 17 marathons within four years.
Sidelined by injuries for the second half of 2013, he returns to racing this year with four marathons and a half marathon. His past marathons include Lincoln, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Houston, Twin Cities, Seattle, Des Moines, Austin, Hamburg (Germany) and Paris (France).
