Live broadcast of Borodin’s ‘Prince Igor’ is March 1

The Mary Riepma Ross hosts a live broadcast of "Prince Igor" on March 1.

The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will host a live broadcast of Borodin’s “Prince Igor” at 11 a.m. March 1. An encore performance is noon, March 2. The performance is part of The Met: Live in HD series of live broadcasts from New York City’s Metropolitan Opera House.

Borodin’s defining Russian epic, famous for its Polovtsian dances, comes to the Met for the first time in nearly 100 years. Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production is a psychological journey through the mind of its conflicted hero, with the founding of the Russian nation as the backdrop. Bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov takes on the monumental title role, with Gianandrea Noseda conducting.

The expected running time is 4 hours 30 minutes.

Tickets are $24 general admission, $22 senior citizens, $17 for Friends of the Ross, $16 students and children, $6 Nebraska Wesleyan Students (with a valid student ID), and $5 for UNL students (with a valid NCard).
