Three straight nights of Jazz music are on the horizon at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music and UNL Jazz Studies.

The four UNL undergrad combos will be performing a wide variety of American Songbook and jazz standards on their upcoming concert at 7:30 p.m. April 25 in the Westbrook Recital Hall. Composers such as Kurt Weil and Sonny Rollins are among the many that will be represented.

This performance is free and open to the public. This performance will be live webcast.

The UNL Jazz Orchestra and the UNL Big Band will be performing “The Music of George Stone” at 7:30 p.m. April 26 in Kimball Recital Hall. The UNL Jazz Orchestra, directed by Paul Haar, is the university’s showcase jazz group and one of the Glenn Korff School of Music’s most visible performing groups. The UNL Big Band, directed by Patrick Brown, is a vital component of the UNL jazz curriculum. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students and seniors.

The graduate septet and the graduate quintet will be performing new music written by members of the ensemble as part of the Graduate Jazz Combos performance at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in the Westbrook Recital Hall. In addition, both ensembles will present some fresh new arrangements of some jazz classics such as “Too Marvelous for Words” and “Love for Sale.”
