A retirement reception for Gordon Karels, associate dean for research and graduate programs and Nebraska Bankers Association College Professor of Banking in the College of Business Administration, is 1 to 2:30 p.m. May 7 in CBA, room 222. The reception is open to students, faculty and staff.
Karels taught finance and provided key administration duties at the college and university levels for 28 years. His expertise in banking and credit union research made him a nationally known expert and led to him being called to testify on regulatory issues before Congress. Karels’ other senior positions include being named interim associate vice chancellor at UNL and serving as interim director of the J.D. Edwards program which later became the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management.
