The 24th season of the Sheldon Art Association’s Jazz in June concert series concludes today with the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet.

The concerts are at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in June in the sculpture garden west of UNL’s Sheldon Museum of Art. Although the Jazz in June concert series is free, those in attendance are encouraged to make a donation of $10 per family to help ensure its continuation.

The event also includes a walking tour exploring plants in the Sheldon’s sculpture garden and the Lied Center for Performing Arts plaza, as well as a market featuring 25 vendors with food, drinks and artisan-made crafts.

The Jazz in June Market, located at 12th and R streets, opens at 5 p.m. The walking tour, led by Eileen Bergt, assistant director of Landscape Services, begins at 6 p.m. at the Sheldon’s east entrance. Bergt will discuss the perennials, shrubs and water plants in the Sheldon’s sculpture garden and the landscape design of the Lied plaza.

Marsalis, a member of New Orleans’ venerable first family of jazz, is the son of pianist and music educator Ellis Marsalis and his wife, Dolores, and the youngest sibling of Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo. Marsalis, known for his collaborative creativity, will perform original compositions influenced by traditional elements and the unique talents of each member of the quartet.

UNL BikeValet offers free secure parking for bikes from 5 p.m. to an hour after each Jazz in June concert. The BikeValet service is offered at 13th and R streets, at the east end of the Jazz in June market.
