Jacht Ad Lab exhibit features work by Tom Tidball

Jacht Ad Lab, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications’ student advertising agency, will host a First Friday showing of work by Tom Tidball from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6.

The Jacht Ad Lab is located in the Haymarket’s Candy Factory building at 201 N. 8th St.

Tidball, an adjunct professor of photography, will display photos from his “Pow-Wow Plains” collection. The exhibit will include shots from powwows of the Omaha, Winnebago, Santee Sioux, Ponca, and Pawnee tribes in Nebraska. The exhibit is currently being displayed at the Great Plains Art Museum and has been on tour across the state for the last 10 years.

“At Jacht, we strive to be part of the growing community of artists, developers and creative minds in Lincoln,” said Amy Struthers, Jacht’s founder, supervisor and professor of advertising at UNL. “We love to show off the work of students and faculty from across UNL. It’s special for us to be able to showcase work by a professor from the College of Journalism who is also a renowned photographer. And Tom has contributed so much to our college, teaching so many of our students.”

Jacht, founded in fall 2010 as UNL’s first student advertising agency, develops strategic use of social media, digital production, mobile media and other emerging technologies to help clients reach business goals. This generates a unique student “ad lab” experience that yields professional and engaging creative work. Jacht students partner with clients in an experimental environment where there is opportunity to explore, analyze and test fresh ideas in the constantly evolving digital communications space.
