Illustrating insects seminar to feature Kansas artist

Sara Taliaferro, a natural science illustrator based in Lawrence, Kan., will deliver an entomology seminar on illustrating insects from 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 6 in the East Union.

The seminar, “Illustrating Insects: From Pin to Picture,” is free and open to faculty, staff and students. Taliaferro also participated in the Department of Entomology’s Bugfest on Oct. 5.

Taliaferro earned a master’s degree in botany-genetics from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology education from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania. She has 11 years experience as a natural science illustrator and has operated her own art studio for five years. She previously worked at the University of Kansas’ Museum of Natural History and Biodiversity Research Center.
