Registration is open for the second annual Nebraska Football Uplifting Athletes Road Race. The event, which includes both a mile fun run and a competitive five-kilometer race, is July 20.

Cost is $25 for the mile run and $30 for the 5K. Proceeds from the race benefit pediatric brain cancer research. Runners receive a T-shirt and bracelet.

More than 700 runners participated in the 2013 race. Organizers have set a goal of 1,000 participants for the 2014 event.

The race will start and finish on Stadium Drive near the 501 Building. The mile run begins at 8 a.m., with the 5K to follow at approximately 8:30 a.m. Husker football student-athletes will be on hand to provide support and encouragement throughout both races. There will be an opportunity for interaction with players before and after each race.

The Lincoln Track Club will help coordinate the event for the second straight year. The 5K will travel through Innovation Campus and around the Devaney/Hendricks Training Complex, while the one-mile fun run will take place on the UNL campus.
