The Broadway musical "Memphis" will play the Lied Center on Nov. 12. A limited number of free tickets are available to students.

The Lied Center for Performing Arts and University Program Council are offering 300 students the opportunity to see the Broadway musical “Memphis” for free.

Limited free tickets for the 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 performance are available at http://go.unl.edu/memphis.

Inspired by actual events, “Memphis” tells a tale of fame and forbidden love. The Tony Award-winning production is about a white radio disc jockey who wants to change the world and an African American club singer searching for her big break.

The free tickets are offered as an extension of the Lied Center’s “Arts for All” program. The program seeks to provide every UNL student with at least one world-class performing arts experience before graduation.

The “Memphis” performance marks only the second time that students can see for free a Broadway show at the Lied Center.
