Festival of African Cultures held April 23

The Festival of African Cultures will be held in the Nebraska Union on April 23.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln African Student Association will host the Festival of African Cultures from 6:30 to 10 p.m. April 23 in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room.

The event is an opportunity for the student body and the community to come together and take part in an evening of cultural celebration. It incorporates music, dance, poetry, speeches and more to inform and educate guests about the various cultural aspects of the African continent.

Tickets are $12 for students and $17 for faculty, staff and non-students.

The African Student Association is a student organization with the purpose of promoting solidarity among students of African descent; to uphold the dignity of Africa and its people; to work for the total liberation and unification of Africa; to combat forces of racial and human degradation; to encourage cultural, economic and technological cooperation between the peoples of Africa and the rest of the world; to study and disseminate the proper information on any aspect of African life; and to establish and maintain friendly relations with other bodies and students.
