The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center is hosting “Nobody Does It Better,” a tribute to Lucy Buntain Comine and a celebration of Mary Riepma Ross. The event honoring two dynamic women who have made a lasting imprint on the Ross will begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Van Brunt Visitors Center.
Ross turned her love of movies into two significant monetary gifts. The first built the Ross, a state-of-the-art and multi-screen theater, and the second is an endowment to support the program. Buntain Comine’s professional and volunteer commitments to the Ross have significantly enhanced the scope and professionalism of the theater.
The tribute will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception in the Van Brunt Vistors Center. At 7 p.m., the Mary Riempa Ross Award will be presented to Buntain Comine in the Ross. A screening of “Election,” the 1999 comedy written and directed by Alexander Payne, will follow the presentation.
Cost is $75 per person. Registration is available online. Additionally, participants may mail their registration by downloading the RSVP card or picking one up at the Ross. The deadline for registration is Oct. 4.
All after-expense ticket proceeds and underwriting will support the Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase, which allows the Ross to bring visiting filmmakers to Lincoln.
