UNL Campus Recreation is offering Itty Bitty Sports Development, an introductory children’s sports program open to youth ages 3 to 5.

This program focuses on the basic skills needed for sports including throwing, catching, kicking and batting. The program begins Jan. 28 and meets on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. through March 4. Itty Bitty Soccer begins April 1.

Enrollment is open to the general public with a discount offered to UNL students and Campus Rec members.

Start Smart programs introduce children to the wide world of sports. Basic motor skills tasks help build children’s confidence and self-esteem. The environment of the programs offer children a positive experience early in their sports exposure and will help to prepare them to play sports in the future. Emphasis on winning is minimal and the programs allow children to progress at an individual rate, while still offering challenging skills.
