David DeFruiter

A retirement reception for David DeFruiter, director for Information Technology Services, is 10 a.m. to noon May 13 in the Van Brunt Visitors Center.

DeFruiter began his UNL career in 1987 in the Bureau of Business Research in the College of Business Administration. In 1998, Defruiter became the college’s director of information technology and served on an advisory panel to UNL Information Services. Over the years, DeFruiter initiated many technology efforts and was a founder and a board member for the system-wide University of Nebraska Information Technology organization.

In 2011, DeFruiter joined Information Technology Services, where he began as director of client services and later served as director of enterprise desktop services. During his tenure, he helped build a successful computer support service for departments and colleges, as well as lead a digital signage initiative for UNL.

“David has demonstrated great leadership within our campus IT community as a true champion for collaboration.” says Mark Askren, chief information officer. “We thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the University.”
