Deadline to apply for service-learning trip extended to Dec. 6


Students, faculty and staff can apply to participate in UNL’s Alternative Service Break trip to California’s Central Valley. The trip will take place Jan. 1-10.

The deadline to submit applications to the Center for Civic Engagement, 222 Nebraska Union, has been extended to Dec. 6. A pre-trip information meeting for individuals who have completed applications is 4 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Nebraska Union (room posted).

Participants in the service trip will study immigration, citizenship, and migrant workers and their families. Service break volunteers will work in the Central Valley alongside migrant workers. They will also learn from national experts on immigration, workers’ rights and education.

Sites included in the trip are the Rock Mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountains, Pacific Ocean, Sequoia National Park, National Archway Park and the Grand Canyon.
