The Confucius Institute at UNL is hosting a Chinese speech competition to generate interest in learning Chinese.

The contest is open to any non-native Chinese speaker living in Nebraska. Speech topics are “The teacher I like best” and “An interesting encounter with Chinese culture.” Each contestant must prepare a three to five minute speech and answer two questions from the judges.

Contestants will be divided into age ranges. All contestants will receive a certificate and a souvenir. Top winners will also receive additional prizes.

Registration for the contest is open through Sept. 6. To register, send a written speech (preferably in Chinese) to the Confucius Institute’s Angela Rystrom at arystrom2@unl.edu or W205 Nebraska Hall, P.O. Box 880542, Lincoln, NE 68588-0542.
