Civic Engagement offers funds for service projects

Students work on a community improvement project during the 2012 Big Event.

The Center for Civic Engagement is offering grants up to $1,000 to recognized student organizations planning service-learning projects.

The funds, available through the “Give Back. Big.” program, will be awarded through a competitive grant process. The grant application is available online at http://engage.unl.edu/give-back-big. Proposals must be submitted to the Center for Civic Engagement, 222 Nebraska Union, by 5 p.m. Oct. 4.

The “Give Back. Big.” campaign is a competition for student organizations to share proposals on how to help change the world around them. Applicants must submit a proposal outlining a service-learning project. The “Give Back. Big.” committee will review proposals and select one winner. Another winner will be chosen by community vote. Winning proposals will each receive a $1,000 award to help with the project.
