The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Department of Physics and Astronomy invites the public to an open house from 8 to 11 p.m. April 15 at Behlen Observatory, 35 miles northeast of Lincoln, near Mead.

If weather permits, attendees will be able to view the Ring Nebula, the Hercules star cluster, a waxing gibbous moon and Jupiter. The date also marks the start of the Lyrid meteor shower, so attendees might catch a shooting star or two.

UNL instructors and Society of Physics students will be on hand between viewings with science demonstrations and lectures.
