Madeleine Albright, a former U.S. secretary of state, will deliver the keynote address during the Food Factory of the Future Workshop at UNL’s Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Albright’s address, which is free and open to faculty, staff and students, is 9:15 a.m. May 18 in the NIC auditorium. The talk, “Feeding a Global Population,” will address ways to make high-quality food accessible and affordable worldwide. Albright will also discuss the need to feed and nourish a growing population in a sustainable way. A short question and answer session will follow the talk.

Appointed the 64th secretary of state in 1997, Albright is presently chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm; and chair of Albright Capital Management, an investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets.

The workshop is a two-day, invitation-only conference sponsored by UNL’s College of Engineering and Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources; the University of California, Davis; Georgia Institute of Technology; and ConAgra. It will also include national food industry and food manufacturing experts who will discuss the automation and modernization of food processing and manufacturing technologies.
