Emmy Award-winning actress Marg Helgenberger visited UNL Sept. 19 and worked with students in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.

Helgenberger worked with students in Laura Lippman’s intermediate acting and Sasha Dobson’s advanced acting classes.

“Ms. Helgenberger brings to our students a vast knowledge of the industry, having worked on stage, in film and on a variety of acclaimed episodic television series,” said Paul Steger, director of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. “She also brings an understanding of the ins and outs of the industry. The Carson School is thrilled and humbled to have an actress of her caliber working with our students.”

Helgenberger most recently starred in the CBS drama “Intelligence.” She ended a 12-year run on the drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2012, for which she earned two Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. In 2005, she won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Television Star, and “CSI” received the Screen Actors Guild’s Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award. She earned an Emmy Award in 1990 for her role as K.C. on “China Beach” and was also on the daytime drama “Ryan’s Hope.” She has also appeared in the feature films “Erin Brockovich” and “Species.”

She also recently starred in “The Other Place” at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Mass., this summer.

Helgenberger grew up in North Bend and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She received her degree in speech and drama from Northwestern University.

She is also a member of the Hixson-Lied Advisory Board for the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
