UNL museums and galleries will offer special programming — including concerts, exhibitions and family-friendly activities — on Dec. 4 as part of Lincoln’s First Friday Artwalk. Participating venues include the Great Plains Art Museum, International Quilt Study Center and Museum, Love Library and the Sheldon Museum of Art.

Great Plains Art Museum

The Great Plains Art Museum will offer a quilt-pattern art activity, dress-up-your-hot-chocolate bar and holiday treats during the Dec. 4 event. This is the first First Friday event the museum has participated in since closing its doors due to a flood earlier this year. International Quilt Study Center and Museum

The International Quilt Study Center and Museum celebrates the grand opening of favorites from the Byron and Sara Rhodes Dillow Collection. The collection of quilts and fabrics includes historically significant and dynamic pieces. The exhibition showcases these pieces while also celebrating the family’s long legacy of quiltmaking. For First Friday, the museum will offer extended hours and free admission from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Lincoln Southeast High School’s Bel Canto group will perform at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Love Library

Love Library continues to host the 9th Annual UNL Staff Art Show, on display through Dec. 19. The library is open through 8 p.m. on First Friday. For more information, click here.

Sheldon Museum of Art

The Sheldon Museum of Art will host UNL’s Chamber Singers for brief performance on Dec. 4. The program, which begins at 5 p.m., will feature holiday music. The Chamber Singers will perform in Sheldon’s Great Hall before being joined by an eight-piece brass ensemble in the museum’s auditorium. For more information, click here.
