University Health Center offers insurance open house

University Health Center

The University Health Center will host an Open Enrollment Open House to help educate the campus community about the Affordable Care Act and other health insurance options on Nov. 14-15.

The sessions are 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 in the University Health Center lower level, Rooms A, B and C.

Local certified application counselors will be on site to explain the ACA, who qualifies for the Health Insurance Marketplace, how to shop for health insurance on the marketplace, federal subsidies and more. The health center’s insurance team also will be present to discuss university’s StudentBlue health insurance plan, which is available to students.

The open house is free and open to students, faculty, staff and interested community members.

“We understand the ever-changing healthcare environment and insurance options can seem daunting, which is why we invite the community to attend this event and become informed about their options,” said Jeanine Soneson, University Health Center’s student health operations manager.

The 2017 ACA Open Enrollment period opened Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 31. For more information about the Marketplace and the ACA, click here.
