University Communications has moved to its new headquarters on the second floor of the building at 1217 Q St. An open house for the new space will be announced.

Following a year and a half of planning, the Office of University Communications has opened the doors to its new headquarters at 1217 Q St.

The second-floor space brings together University Communications’ marketing, news and public relations, photography, video, interactive media and publications divisions under the same roof for the first time. Previously, various divisions were housed in Canfield Administration Building, Nebraska Hall and the to-be-razed University Terrace.

“Bringing all of the department’s functions together in one physical space will allow for greater efficiency and collaboration, both within University Communications and with our campus partners,” said Andy Schadwinkel, interim director of University Communications. “We are already seeing the benefits.”

University Communications, often referred to as UComm, is the central public voice for UNL and builds communication and marketing strategies that advance the university’s goals. The office advises administration and units throughout the university regarding communication, marketing and reputation.

Staffers’ contact information, including telephone numbers, remain the same in the new space. Visitors to University Communications should use the 12th Street entrance just south of FedEx Office, and either take stairs or the elevator to the second floor.

Once final touches are made to the new space, UComm will host an open house for campus, Schadwinkel said.
