Training table usage now limited to athletic department

Huskers

The Huskers' training table, which is in West Memorial Stadium, is only available to Nebraska athletes and athletic staff starting Aug. 20.

As part of continuing efforts to assure top-rate nutrition to Nebraska scholarship and walk-on athletes, the Lewis Training Table at Memorial Stadium will no longer be open to the general student population, faculty and staff outside of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Athletic Department. The new policy is effective Aug. 20.

Before 2014, the NCAA required athletic departments to keep their training tables open to non-student athletes in order to offer more than one meal per day. Even after the rule was changed to allow training tables to be limited to student athletes and athletic staff, Nebraska continued to allow outside students, staff and faculty to make reservations to eat at the training table.

Athletics has changed its policy so that dining at the training table is included only with meal plans contracted to student athletes and athletic staff. Visiting prospects and guests of the Huskers, such as dignitaries and donors, still may dine there if accompanied by appropriate staff.
