The New Yorker music critic talk is Sept. 8

Alex Ross, music critic for The New Yorker magazine

Alex Ross, music critic for The New Yorker magazine, will give a lecture Sept 8. at the Center for Great Plains Studies.

Alexander Ross, music critic for The New Yorker magazine, will give a lecture at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Center for Great Plains Studies. A reception and book signing will follow.

Ross’ first book, “The Rest is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century,” won a National Book Critics Circle Award and The Guardian First Book Award. It was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Ross is now at work on “Wagnerism: Art in the Shadow of Music.” He has received an Arts and Letters Award, the Belmont Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a MacArthur Fellowship.

This event is free and open to the public.
