Student performers in the UNL Opera program take to the stage for the "Music and Milestones" event at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Feb. 15.

The Glenn Korff School of Music’s student-led opera will present ‘The Tender Land’ at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 and 3 p.m. Feb. 24 in Kimball Recital Hall.

Composed by Aaron Copland, the opera takes place in a Depression-era rural community and depicts the life of a young girl, her family and two migrant workers in a coming-of-age tale that reflects the hardworking spirit of the Midwest.

A pre-performance talk will be held 45 minutes before the beginning of each performance in the lower lobby of Kimball Recital Hall.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. To buy tickets in advance, contact the Lied Center Box Office at 402-472-4747 or visit the Lied website.
