University of Nebraska students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in a system-wide climate survey beginning Oct. 11.

The survey, administered by Gallup, will assess areas such as the student experience, workplace engagement, diversity and inclusion, and communication. Students and employees will receive separate but similar surveys. Links to access the survey will be delivered via an email from the Office of the President.

An annual climate survey is one of the goals outlined in University of Nebraska System President Ted Carter’s strategic plan for the NU system. This year’s survey will create a baseline that will help individual campuses develop action plans and measure their progress.

In all-university letters to students and employees, Carter and the four NU chancellors wrote that it is among the university system’s highest priorities to be an outstanding place to learn and work.

“We know there is always room to do more. We also recognize it is not enough to simply state our commitment to improvement. We must also turn our intent into action,” the president and chancellors wrote. “Your voice matters in that regard, and we will rely on your feedback to help us become a stronger university.”

The surveys will be open for four weeks, through Nov. 5. They take about 10 minutes to complete and may be done from a desktop or smartphone. Answers will be completely confidential and will be reported only in the aggregate. Results are expected in early 2022 and will be available on a campus-by-campus basis.

Members of the university community who need assistance completing the survey may contact Gallup Client Support at 1-888-486-9104.
