The Symphonic Band will celebrate women with its "DoubleX" concert March 6.

The Glenn Korff School of Music Symphonic Band, led by conductor Tony Falcone, will present “DoubleX” in a 7:30 p.m. March 6 performance in Kimball Recital Hall.

The concert celebrates women composers with works by Jennifer Higdon, Julie Giroux, Chen Yi and Kimberly Archer.

Professor of Saxophone Paul Haar, associate professor of saxophone, will join the band for the Nebraska premiere performance of “Street Hawker, Concerto for Saxophone and Wind Sinfonietta.” The composition was written by Rachel Lanik Whelan, a Nebraska alumna.

Directed by Falcone, the Symphonic Band has the distinction of being the band program’s top symphonic ensemble.

Tickets to the recital are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens. The performance will be webcast live.
