‘Sunday with a Scientist’ program to feature university geologist

Dr. David Harwood from the UNL Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences will lead Virtual Sunday with a Scientist on Sunday, February 28th at 2:00 pm.
David Harwood, professor in Nebraska's Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, will lead the next Virtual Sunday with a Scientist program.

Take a virtual tour around the world this weekend during the University of Nebraska State Museum-Morrill Hall’s Virtual Sunday with a Scientist. This month’s free program, “Where on Earth Am I?” is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 28 via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The program will be led by David Harwood, professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Participants will take a virtual walk through space and time using the Google Earth app and learn to see the world like a geologist.

During Sunday’s program, Harwood will guide participants through Nebraska’s rolling sandhills, rivers and lakes. Participants will then fly to a sandy desert, the icy South Pole and even travel through time. For the most interactive experience, participants should download the free Google Earth app in advance and come prepared with a place they want to explore.

Additional information about Sunday with a Scientist, including upcoming topics, can be found on the museum website.
