STEM workshop focuses on women interested in science, technology, math

Any freshman women interested in science, technology, engineering and/or math are welcome to attend a symposium-style event that will have featured speakers, roundtable discussions and a free lunch. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Nebraska Union.

Students do not need to be majors in these fields to participate.

The speakers will be people from UNL’s STEM departments, the Women’s Center, UNL Big Data Initiative and the First Year Experience and Transition program.

Registration is required and is only open to 50-75 students.

The event is co-sponsored by the departments of biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, computer science and engineering, and earth and geological sciences.
