Opening July 27 at Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center is “En el Séptimo Dia” (“On the Seventh Day”), a fictional tale about a group of Mexican immigrants, their jobs and their soccer team.

José, a bicycle delivery worker, is the team captain. When the soccer squad makes it to the finals, José and his teammates are thrilled. However, a work conflict on the day of the championship game forces José to decide between playing or losing his job and, possibly, putting his future in jeopardy.

“En el Séptimo Dia,” which is not rated, shows through Aug. 2.

Continuing to show at the Ross is “Boundaries.”

“Boundaries” features Laura (played by Vera Farmiga), a single mother who lives in Seattle and is in constant need to put others and animals before her own needs. When her estranged, criminally-minded father, Jack (Christopher Plummer) is kicked out of a retirement home, Laura agrees to drive him to Los Angeles to live with her sister JoJo.

Along for the ride is Laura’s bright but troubled son, Henry, and an assortment of animal charity cases.

Without telling Laura, Jack convinces Henry to help him sell off his copious supply of marijuana at every stop of their journey, resulting in unexpected reunions with old friends and family.

“Boundaries” shows through Aug. 2. The film is rated R for drug material, language, some sexual references and nude sketches.
