Shulski’s brush with extreme weather launched her climate curiosity

Video: She's a Scientist with Martha Shulski

Welcome to “She’s a Scientist,” a video series launched to highlight the work of female researchers at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Today, we’re showcasing Martha Shulski, Nebraska State Climatologist, director of the Nebraska State Climate Office, and professor in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. As a young child, Shulski had a terrifying experience with extreme weather, and she wanted to understand why it happened, leading her to become a climatologist.

“She’s a Scientist” videos are a regular feature in Nebraska Today. To nominate a researcher for the series, email nebraskatoday@unl.edu or call 402-472-8515.
