Nebraska Sen. Tony Vargas speaks during a committee meeting of the Nebraska Legislature.

The Academic Advising Association’s Wisdom Wednesdays will feature Nebraska State Sen. Tony Vargas in a talk Oct. 21 at noon via Zoom.

Vargas will speak on the need for diversity and inclusion in higher education.

The Academic Advising Association was created as a venue to provide and enhance professional development opportunities, discuss and implement best practices, and network among the varied student services professionals who serve university students. Whether you are faculty, staff or a graduate student, this organization is a place to come together, to learn from and with each other, in order to provide the best support for our students as they navigate their college experience.

Wisdom Wednesdays take place once per month and will have a new topic each meeting. Future meetings include:

  • Nov. 18 — Mental Health and Well-being in Virtual Advising

  • Dec. 16 — Supporting First-Year Students

For any questions, contact Amanda Bergeron-Bauer or visit the Academic Advising Association’s website.
