The second annual Arts Advocacy Day is March 13. The event includes art advocacy information, student artwork and performances, and Professor of Art Eddie Dominguez will lead a community art project.

The second annual Arts Advocacy Day at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 13 in the Lied Commons at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

The goal of the event is to celebrate student artwork, as well as expose the university community to statewide arts advocacy efforts.

It will feature an Arts Advocacy Station offering information on Nebraskans for the Arts and materials to help participants write letters in support of the arts and send them to state representatives. Additionally, student artwork will be displayed throughout the commons and Eddie Dominguez, professor of art, will lead participants in a community art project.

There will also be several performances and presentations scheduled throughout the day. The schedule is as follows (with additional groups to be added later):

  • 11 a.m. — Nebraska Steel
  • Noon — Flyover New Music preview
  • 12:30 p.m. — Cinema 16 Short Film Showing
  • 2 p.m. — Theatrix
  • 2:30 p.m. — NAfME: Advocating for Arts Education
  • 3 p.m. — A cappella hour with Bathtub Dogs and Take Note

The event is a collaboration between Nebraskans for the Arts, the Hixson-Lied Undergraduate Student Advisory Board and the Lied Center Student Council.
