Monarchs, sulphurs and painted ladies, oh my!

Steady winter and early spring rains in northern Mexico and California have led to a butterfly bloom that is migrating across the Midwest. While monarch and sulfur butterflies have just started to appear locally, painted lady butterflies have been traveling in large numbers across Nebraska in recent weeks.

In the video above, Jonathan Larson, an assistant extension educator, explains the reasons behind the influx of the colorful flying insects.
