Search begins for new honors program director

The process to recruit and select candidates for a new director of the University Honors Program has started with the creation of a search committee.

The committee will be led by Donna Dudney, associate dean of business. Other search committee members are: Matt Loar, assistant professor of classics and religious studies; Carl Nelson, professor of mechanical and materials engineering; Tamy Burnett, assistant director of the University Honors Program; Amber Williams, assistant vice chancellor of enrollment management; Wes Peterson, professor of agricultural economics; Petronela Radu, associate professor of mathematics; and Kristen Olson, associate professor of sociology.

Committee members were selected by Amy Goodburn, senior associate vice chancellor and dean of undergraduate education.

Gwen Bachman, associate professor of biological sciences is the interim director of the honors program, having assumed the role in June 2017. She replaced Patrice Berger, the founding director, who retired after leading the program for 31 years.

The university will conduct a search limited to university associate or full professors only. The deadline for applications is Jan. 8. Faculty are encouraged to nominate or forward names for consideration to ddudney1@unl.edu.
